The Koomkalan police have booked a man for allegedly making an indecent video of Punjabi singer Satwinder Kaur Bitti, who contested the Vidhan Sabha elections on a Congress ticket from Sahnewal constituency.

Bitti had complained to the police that the accused made an inappropriate video of her and posted it on social media and WhatsApp groups. She said it was done to tarnish her image in the public.

The video was circulated during the run-up to the Vidhan Sabha elections. The accused has been identified as Mohan Singh, a property dealer, residing in the Guru Tegh Bahadar Nagar area on the Chandigarh road.

The police have booked Mohan Singh under Sections 66E, 67, 67 A of the IT Act and Sections 354 C, 500 and 501 of the Indian Peanl Code and Section 6 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.

Station House Officer Harinder Singh said the accused has been arrested and the intent for making the video and the involvement of more persons in the act was being probed.
