Karnal, March 30

The body of a teenage girl was found from an augmentation canal near Uncha Samana village today. She had been missing from Mainmati village since March 27.

Kajal was a student of BA-I of DAV Girls College, Karnal. Her family members have charged two village youths with murdering Kajal and throwing her body into the canal. Her family members protested outside the Chief Minister’s camp office in support of their demand for the arrest of the culprits. Kushal Pal, DSP, Indri, pacified them and said action would be taken against the accused.

Manoj Kumar, SHO, Kunjpura, said they had received a complaint in the case on March 27 and an FIR was registered under Sections 363 and 366A. He said a post-mortem examination had been conducted on the body and the reason behind the death would be ascertained after the report.
