Good news for those wanting to take the driving test! Instead of having to wait in queues, residents can now book the date and time in advance for taking the test.

Not only this, they would also be able to book the time for taking the tab test for getting their learner’s licence as well.

It would be possible to do so through your mobile phone with new iDTO mobile application, which will be launched soon by the district administration.

Booking time for these tests is one of the features of the app.

Though the app is already available at both Android Playstore and iOS, it is yet to be formally launched. Officials said it would be launched early next week.

Other feature of the mobile app is that it will also provide information about traffic signs. Officials said traffic signs which were tested during the tab test for learner’s licence have been added in the app.

Residents who have applied for driving licence or RCs of vehicles would get information about the status of these after filling information such as date of birth, vehicle chassis number, etc.

Speaking about the app, Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat said: “The app has been developed for the convenience of residents. The feature of booking the date and time for taking driving or tab test would also save their time. As they can know the status of driving licence and RCs, they don’t have to come to the DTO office especially for this.”

District Transport Officer (DTO) Dalwinderjit Singh said: “Though initially the time slot for booking has been made from 9 am to 10 am, the timings will be extended further depending on the response of residents to the app.”
