Dehradun, July 17

The electricity generation in state-run hydropower projects was affected due to rains in different parts of the state and silt in the rivers.

The turbines of the hydropower projects have stopped generating electricity due to silt in Himalayan rivers and its tributaries.

The turbines of 90 MW Maneri-Bhalli-I, 90 MW Maneri-Bhalli-II and 144 MW Chilla hydropower projects did not generate electricity for the second consecutive day.

The data compiled by Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) highlighted that demand of electricity was 40.29 million units while the availability of electricity was 39.63 million units per day in the state.

UPCL official spokesperson PC Dhyani said UPCL had procured 8.59 million units of electricity to bridge the gap between demand and supply of electricity in the state. He ruled out that scheduled power cut was implemented for the state. — TNS
