Haridwar, December 19

Montfort School, Roorkee, clinched the Late Rampal Singh Memorial Cricket Tournament in Roshanabad today defeating Bal Bharati Sector-4 School, Haridwar.

Despite the prevailing windy and cold conditions, Montfort School decided to bat first. The opening batsmen proved the decision right by negating the advantage of overcast weather conditions conducive to seam and swing bowling.

In the stipulated 15 overs, Montfort School amassed 126 runs, with Aditya Sehgal scoring a quickfire 30. In reply, Bal Bharati batsmen failed to capitalise on bright sunny weather conditions during their innings, with half of them falling to reckless shots.

Tight fielding and quality bowling from Montfort School bowlers bowled out Bal Bharati team for a meagre 61 runs. Montfort School won the final by 65 runs.

The man of the match award was given to Aditya Chopra for his brilliant overall performance while the man of the series title went to Mahesh Yadav.

Ranipur-BHEL legislator Aadesh Chauhan was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. Cricket Association of Haridwar secretary Inder Mohan Barthwal expressed satisfaction at the level of play and talent among the budding school players of the district.

District Sports Officer Sunil Dobhal, principal of host New St Thomas Academy, Amit Gupta, tournament manager Ghasitu Ram, chairman Rahul Pal, coach Bhupendra Arya and Jitendra were present.
