Four children drowned in a pond in Bihar’s Rohtas district, a police officer said on Thursday.
The children drowned on Wednesday evening while taking bath in a pond near Targanj village, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Alok Ranjan said.
The bodies were fished out on Thursday morning and sent for post-mortem at Sadar hospital, the SDPO said.
The victims have been identified as Golu (8), Aman (8), Ankit (7) and Dipu (12), Ranjan said, adding that all of them had come over to their relatives’ place for house warming.
The incident sparked off protest by the locals who blocked the GT road for some time demanding compensation to the affected families, the SDPO said, adding that the district administration had announced ex gratia to the families of the victims. PTI
