CITCO MD’s husband in race for post

The Punjab Government today sent a panel of three IAS officers for the post of the Municipal Commissioner to the UT Administration. The panel included Baldeo Purushartha, Harjeet Singh, both 2002-batch IAS officers, and Dharam Pal, a 2005-batch IAS officer.

Interestingly, Purushartha, who is the husband of CITCO MD Kavita Mohan Singh, is the only direct IAS in the panel. Harjeet Singh and Dharampal were promoted from the Punjab Civil Services (PCS) to IAS.

As Purushartha is the only direct IAS officer in the panel. Sources said he was the front-runner for the post. Recently, the MHA had written to the UT Administration to relieve Municipal Commissioner Vivek Pratap Singh, whose tenure ended on February 28. A senior official of the Punjab Government said the process to send a panel of PCS officers to Chandigarh is already on.
