Depts asked to undertake Aadhaar seeding

While Haryana ranks third in the country in terms of Aadhaar saturation, Keshni Anand Arora, Additional Chief Secretary, Electronics and Information Technology, has exhorted the state government departments to expedite the Aadhaar seeding in various schemes for smooth implementation of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Arora was reviewing the DBT and Aadhaar seeding in various schemes in the state at a meeting with the officers concerned of various departments here.

She said Aadhaar seeding in flagship DBT schemes namely public distribution system (PDS), kerosene, direct benefit of LPG, Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, National Social Assistance Programme, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojana and scholarships was discussed in the meeting.

She said that with 98.8 per cent Aadhaar seeding in MGNREGA, Haryana ranked second in the country. The number of beneficiaries was 5,79,114, of which Aadhaar seeded were 5,72,313. In the PDS, Aadhaar seeding in the state was 70.6 per cent with 93,64,539 records digitised, she said, adding that the number of beneficiaries was 1,32,56,675.

In case of DBT, the Aadhaar seeding in the state was 75.6 per cent with 23,91,966 LPG consumers linked with Aadhaar. The number of beneficiaries was 31,63,254. In case of National Social Assistance Programme, the Aadhaar seeding in the state was 86.6 per cent as out of the total 3,21,992 beneficiaries, 2,78,773 were with Aadhaar. She said that in the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna, Haryana with 71.6 per cent seeding was ranked at ninth position in the country in Aadhaar seeding, as out of its total 51,87,683 accounts, 37,15,549 were Aadhar seeded. Aadhaar saturation in the state as on date was 98 per cent with 2,62,24,830 residents in the state having Aadhaar as their identity.
