The state government is keen to set up a cement plant in the Baroh-Sikridhar hills in Churah sub-division of Chamba district.
Addressing mediapersons here today, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Kishan Kapoor said Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was sensitive to setting up the cement plant for the development of the area. It would generate jobs for the local people.
Kapoor said an entrepreneur had come forward and evinced interest in the project in response to tenders floated by the government. But it was pointed out that the condition of roads leading to the cement plant site was not good for transportation. Now the state government was planning to improve the condition of roads for which about Rs 10 crore to 12 crore would be spent, Kapoor said.
