Karnal, December 5

All the government buildings, falling under the area based development (ABD) plan of the Smart City, will have green energy with solar panels. The Karnal Smart City Limited (KSCL) has conducted a survey of these buildings and soon it will initiate the process to convert these buildings into green energy with solar rooftop panels under the renewable energy plan of Smart City. The Union Government has allotted a fund of Rs 38.45 crore for the project under Smart City Mission funds.

As many as 41 government buildings and schools selected under Smart School project were identified for installation of solar rooftop within ABD area, of them 10 government and semi-government buildings were excluded from the scope of the project due to unsuitability. Either they have already installed solar panels or the building structures are old.

“The KSCL intends to install solar roof top panel on government buildings and schools, selected under Smart School project within ABD boundary, to connect with grid system to reduce dependency on conventional energy to renewable energy source under Smart City Mission,” said KSCL CEO Rajiv Mehta.
