Schoolkids visit central varsity

Mahendragarh: Students of Government Senior Secondary School and Government Girls High School, Bassai, here visited Central University of Haryana (CUH) under the “Partnership between schools/institutions” programme.

Mahendragarh: Students of Government Senior Secondary School and Government Girls High School, Bassai, here visited Central University of Haryana (CUH) under the “Partnership between schools/institutions” programme. Vice-Chancellor Prof RC Kuhad said the students not only visited the library and learned about the cataloguing of books, but also laboratories of the school of chemical sciences, school of physical sciences and school of life sciences. “The students watched the demonstration of sophisticated equipment like HPLC, bio-safety cabinets, lyophilizer, spectrophotometer, microscopes, incubators, kjeldahl unit, soxhelet, cold centrifuge, fibre estimation unit and RT-PCR in the university labs,” Kuhad added. 

National seminar on energy

Jhajjar: Jagan Nath University, Bahadurgarh, organised a national conference on “harnessing renewable energy resources for energy efficient homes in rural and urban areas”. Vice-Chancellor Prof HL Verma said energy efficiency of homes was determined by the design, structure, landscapes and construction materials, besides the sources of energy supply. Another speaker, Dr Rajesh Goyal, emphasised on green buildings and the use of blended construction material. Dr SD Malik, innovator of Vedic plaster, demonstrated that cow dung and rice straw can be used to build energy efficient homes and Prof RK Behl shared modern trends in energy efficient homes.

Three-day national seminar begins

Hisar: A three-day national seminar on socio-digital approaches for transforming Indian agriculture was inaugurated at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University on Thursday. The seminar is being organised in the auditorium of the Agricultural College of HAU under the joint aegis of the Indian Extension Education Committee, New Delhi; Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar; and Banda University of Agriculture and Technology, Banda (Uttar Pradesh). Vice-Chancellor of Haryana Agricultural University KP Singh was the chief guest.

4 GJUST students get placement

Hisar: Four students have been selected in the pool campus placement drive of Gurugram-based company Asahi India Glass organised by the training and placement cell at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar. Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, and Dr Anil Kumar Pundir, Registrar of the university, congratulated the selected students. Pratap Singh Malik, Director Placement, said that 44 students participated in this drive.

declamation contest held

Yamunanagar: The applied science department and literacy and aptitude club of Seth Jai Parkash Polytechnic, Damla, organised declamation contest for first year students to enhance their confidence level. Principal of the polytechnic, Anil Kumar, said that the topics for declamation were: ‘Anything is possible when you work on a team’, ‘Role of media in social awareness’, ‘Optimism is the key to success’ and ‘Role of India in Space Technology’. Aditya bagged the first position, Bhavya second position and Anamika and Nikhil Sharma jointly got third position.

steps taken to conduct exams

Rohtak: Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) is taking comprehensive measures to ensure smooth and fair conduct of UG/ PG semester examinations. MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajbir Singh has written to the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of all the districts under the jurisdiction of MDU to ensure deployment of sufficient police force to prevent outside interference in the examination process. Singh said that the university was committed to stamping out the use of unfair means in UG/ PG examinations. Sufficient number of flying squads and observers has been deployed for the purpose of smooth conduct of examinations, he added.
