Shimla, July 21
Exporters are playing a crucial role in improving the economic growth and their contribution can be decisive in making India a five-trillion economy, as has been envisaged by the government of India.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said this during the regional award ceremony of the Engineering Exports Promotion Council of India (EEPC), here on Saturday.
The CM, who was the chief guest, said: “The state government has provided 57 bigha land for setting up regional centre of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in Shimla that will help in identifying export potential.”
He said the northern region has 26 per cent contribution in the total engineering export of the country. India’s engineering export achieved new heights during the last two years, as country’s export grew to 81.02 billion dollars in 2018-19 from 7.02 billion dollars in 2017-18, Thakur said.
He said the efforts were afoot to make Himachal as the most favoured destination for the investors in the country. — TNS
