Parapet of building falls off, 2 injured

Two brothers, Simar and Gurpreet, who had gone to purchase bikes from a showroom in Ali Pulli Mohalla here, were badly injured when the parapet atop the showroom fell on them this afternoon.
It had been raining here this afternoon and the first floor of the unused building came down all of a sudden, which led to panic in the area on the Old GT road near Jyoti Chowk here.
While Gurpreet got injuries in his leg, Simar had to be rushed to the trauma centre at the Civil Hospital as he was more grievously hurt. Gurpreet said he had come to the showroom after completing all formalities for arranging finances for buying the bike when the incident occurred.
Meanwhile, MC officials refused to take any accountability for the incident, saying they had taken affidavits from the owners of the unsafe building that they would themselves be responsible for any loss to life and property due to the possible collapse of the structure.
