ADC bats for issuance of books from library in govt schools

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jalandhar Jitendra Jorwal asked the Education Department to ensure regular issuance of books from school library to students in government schools to inculcate a habit of reading in them.

Presiding over a meeting to review the working of the Education Department here on Friday, the ADC said children must be compulsorily issued books of their choice so that they could read it thoroughly. He said proper record must be maintained for the books issued to the students. Jorwal further said regular checking would be done to ensure that students were benefitted from it.

He also asked the department to make wholehearted efforts to ensure access of quality education by the students of weaker and underprivileged sections of society. Jorwal said strenuous efforts were needed to ensure that the needy students get books well in time.

The ADC also asked the department to ensure nutritious and quality food to the students under the mid-day meal scheme. He also monitored the working of meritorious schools and various schemes related to Education Department.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included District Education Officer Rampal Saini and Satnam Singh, Deputy District Education Officers Harinder Pal Singh and Anil Awasthi besides others.
