Infighting harming staff: Officers’ body

UNA:President of the Una district unit of the Non-gazetted Officers Federation Ramesh Singh Thakur today said infighting among leaders of the federation was causing harm to the interests of the two-and-a-half lakh employees of the state government.

Una, August 12

President of the Una district unit of the Non-gazetted Officers Federation Ramesh Singh Thakur today said infighting among leaders of the federation was causing harm to the interests of the two-and-a-half lakh employees of the state government.

In a press release issued here, he said the federation had divided into three groups, each claiming to be a recognised body.

Ramesh Singh said the federation had fallen prey to factionalism and each group was fighting for its existence by appeasing leaders in the corridors of power in the state capital.

The present scenario was unfortunate for the employees. Since under the prevailing chaos, their pending demands were unable to find any solution. He opined that it was in the interest of the government to delay any dialogue with the employees federation since finances were involved in settling their demands.

The trade union said the federation came into being in 1965 and it was a matter of great concern for the employees that after 54 years of existence, the leaders were playing stooges to the political leadership for their own petty objectives, while setting aside the interests of the employees. He called upon them to unite and sit with the government to settle their pending demands. — OC
