Fayaz Kaloo is Kashmir Editors’ Guild president

SRINAGAR: ‘Greater Kashmir’ Chief Editor Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo was elected as the president of Kashmir Editors’ Guild (KEG) while Bashir Ahmad Bashir and Sajjad Haider have been elected as vice-presidents after an election was held today.

‘Greater Kashmir’ Chief Editor Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo was elected as the president of Kashmir Editors’ Guild (KEG) while Bashir Ahmad Bashir and Sajjad Haider have been elected as vice-presidents after an election was held today.

The election was held for the five positions of president, vice-president - Urdu, vice-president - English, general secretary and treasurer of the guild. It was supervised by senior journalist Yusuf Jameel.

Fayaz Kaloo, who also served as the first ad hoc president of the guild, was elected to the top post of the KEG at its first election. The guild was formed last year. It is one of the biggest representative body of local media and its members include editors of major local newspapers and weekly magazines.

Bashir of ‘Srinagar Times’ will be the vice-president — Urdu while Haider of ‘Kashmir Observer’ will be vice-president – English of the KEG. Bashir Manzar of ‘Kashmir Images’ was elected as general secretary while Haroon Rashid Shah of ‘Nidai-Mashriq’ has been elected as the treasurer.
