Haven’t contacted anyone in political circles, says Lone

Jammu, November 21

Former minister and chairman of People’s Conference Sajjad Gani Lone on Thursday denied he had established contact with anyone in the national political and security establishment.

“I want to make it clear that there is absolutely no question of me having contacted anyone in the national political or security establishment since I was taken to jail on August 5,” read a statement issued by him — the first by any detained leader since August 5.

Reacting to news reports in a section of media, he said, “I strongly deny the baseless claims of such incidents ever having taken place. Both incidents reported in the article are not only innuendo but also a deliberate attempt at a full-scale character assassination under an elaborate plan.

Lone said he had asked his lawyers to file a defamation suit against the writer as also the local daily from Jammu. — TNS
