A Dogri novel, ‘Muns’, written by Inderjeet Kesar was released by Dogri Sanstha at a function here on Sunday. This was Kesar’s 20th Dogri publication and sixth novel.

Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof RD Sharma, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said the novel was a genre which showed the maturity and quality of literature of a language. He said Inderjeet Kesar’s contribution to Dogri literature was outstanding.

Prof Sharma said another merit of the novel was that it dealt with social evils prevalent in society and advocated women emancipation and self-reliance. He complimented the author for his literary achievements and Dogri Sanstha for providing platform to writers to showcase and propagate their writings.

Dogri Sanstha president Lalit Mangotra, in his welcome address, said the publication of the novel was a valuable addition to the treasure of Dogri literature. He said: “The Dogra society, which is rooted in traditions, is afflicted with many dogmas and taboos, especially when it comes to treating women. The programme was conducted by Nirmal Vinod, general secretary, Dogri Sanstha, and the vote of thanks was presented by Chanchal Bhasin, secretary, Dogri Sanstha.
