Chandigarh, October 23

A letter claiming to be from the Jaish-e-Mohammad, a terror outfit, has threatened to blow up the District Courts Complex and the Punjab and Haryana High Court on October 29.

The letter was received by District Bar Association president NK Nanda around 2.30 pm today by Speed Post.

The letter has the address of Aadil Khan, son of Jaish Khan, Hasanpur village, in Mohali. In the letter, Aadil Khan, who claims to be a commandant of the Jaish-e-Mohammad, stated that they wanted the government to stop “atrocities” in Kashmir.

“We are informing you as our purpose is only to send a message to the government.

If they don’t stop troubling our people, we will adopt ‘jihad’ till death. We want the government to stop atrocities in Kashmir,” reads the letter.

“There will be an ‘inauguration’ at 12.18 pm at the District Courts and at 12.28 pm at the Punjab and Haryana High Court on October 29 and we request all advocates to stay away from these because the blast will be of such high intensity that your government will have to reconstruct both buildings,” the letter states.

“Don’t take the message lightly as all preparations have been made and in case you ignore it, you will be responsible,” the letter further reads.

District Bar Association president NK Nanda said soon after receiving the letter, he informed the District and Sessions Judge and the Senior Superintendent of Police about it.
