Deadline for setting up Atal Tinkering labs extended

JALANDHAR: The government has decided to extend the deadline for the setting up Atal Tinkering labs at government schools, wherein state-of-the-art science labs will be set up to ensure quality science studies.

The government has decided to extend the deadline for the setting up Atal Tinkering labs at government schools, wherein state-of-the-art science labs will be set up to ensure quality science studies.

While schools are supposed to apply for the labs directly on the NITI Aayog website, the deadline for the sending applications regarding the scheme was earlier July 15. It has now been extended to August 15.

The labs are being set up to boost independent thinking among the students and to motivate them to take up research and provide a new direction to their thinking. The NITI Aayog, as per its Atal Renovation Mission, will be opening Atal Tinkering labs at government, private, aided, trust and society schools. The labs will be opened in schools from Class VI to Class XII. With the Ayog seeking applications, the DEO’s office had asked all qualifying schools in the district to apply for the project by July 15.

Schools will be required to send a copy of their downloaded form to the DEO’s office.

As many as 457 schools from across the country were chosen for setting up of Atal Tinkering labs during 2016-17. For the year 2017-18, the Union Government will select nearly 1,000 schools from across the country for the project. Schools will be required to apply for the project directly on the NITI Aayog website, the deadline for which was July 15.

The government has asked all schools, which fulfill the terms and conditions of the project, to apply for it. The schools have been directed to apply as per the conditions of the project before the deadline.
