While schools are supposed to apply for the labs directly on the NITI Aayog website, the deadline for the sending applications regarding the scheme was earlier July 15. It has now been extended to August 15.

The labs are being set up to boost independent thinking among the students and to motivate them to take up research and provide a new direction to their thinking.
