The management committee of Gokuldham Gaushala, Pandora Mohalla, Nawanshahr, in a first of its kind initiative, has launched two eco-friendly products made from cow dung and urine.
The gaushala has started manufacturing ‘Gau-Kasth’ (wood made of cow dung) and ‘Gau-shine’, an organic floor cleaner made of extract taken from cow urine, water, pine oil and neem extract.
Vivek Markanda, president of the Gokuldham Gaushala Management Committee, said the launching of two eco-friendly products would help in giving a fillip to the Gau-mission, as people would be made aware of the value of each and every content of the Indian breed of cow. Not only the milk, the cow dung, urine as well as its touch have great medicinal values and could cure different ailments, he said.
The use of Gau-Kasth would reduce the demand for wood that is being procured by cutting down trees. The Gau-Kasth can also be used in cremation and ‘havan yajna’, he said, adding that the Gau-shine too is an organic and eco-friendly product for cleaning floors.
It would help keep the mosquitoes and bees away. The product would be marketed for daily use in houses, hospitals, educational institutions and hotels etc. It would not only help in making the Gau-shala self-reliant but also help in preserving and promoting the Indian breed of cows, Markanda added.
