The 83rd anniversary of the Indian Air Force was celebrated at Adampur Air Force base today. A static display of aircraft and assets was held for schoolchildren to showcase prowess of the Indian Air Force. Air Commodore SK Mohlah, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Adampur, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Air Commodore Mohlah paid homage to the martyrs, who sacrificed their lives during various wars for the sake of the nation, by laying a wreath at the Station War Memorial to mark the occasion. An oath taking ceremony was also organised, wherein all station personnel took an oath to serve the nation with devotion and integrity, followed by the wreath laying ceremony.
Fighter aircrafts, missiles, armament stores, crash fire equipment, special forces equipment and IGLA missiles, which were displayed on the occasion, were a major attraction for the public. Students of EMAAR International School Adampur, Ivy World International School, Jalandhar, Kendriya Vidyalayas and DAV University, Jalandhar, witnessed the static display at the Air Force base.
Numerous other activities were also organised on the occasion. A flight safety campaign was also held wherein aircraft posters, calendar, caps etc were distributed among students and other visitors to make them aware of the need to be flight safety conscious. Aero models were also displayed and flown on the occasion.
