Jalandhar, April 6
Claiming to have initiated to spread the message of peace and harmony from the same place where 100 years ago General Dyer had headed on for a bloody massacre, members of the National Martyrs’ Memorial Committee took out a rally from his colonial house in Jalandhar Cantt today.
The rally was flagged off by Major General RK Singh of the Vajra Corps. The rally that was represented by ex-servicemen, school and college staff and students was received at various points on way to the Jallianwala Bagh today.
Prof Anoop Watts, who is the president of the committee and principal of a college at Nakodar, said the programme marked the centenary of protests against Rowlatt Act and the forthcoming centenary of the massacre.
