The police recovered 13 ATM cards, Rs 25,000, and five mobile phones from three persons and arrested them from different locations of the city.
The accused have been identified as Vijay Deswal, Sanjeev Kumar and Ajay Kumar. Vijay hails from Haryana and presently residing at Baldev Nagar. He was arrested from Baldev Nagar. Sanjeev, who is a resident of Kishanpura, was arrested from Kishanpura Chowk and Ajay, who is a resident of Santokhpura, was arrested from PAP Chowk.
The victim, Roshan Lal, a resident of Satnam Nagar, had lodged an FIR against the accused on May 6. He told the cops that “On May 1, around 6 pm, he had been to Punjab National Bank, located near Jyoti Chowk, to withraw some money.”
“However, he couldn’t withdraw the money. An unknown person standing behind him offered help and took his ATM card and asked for its pin. After swiping the card, he said the machine wasn’t working and returned his card,” added the victim.
He said later he realised that the person had stolen his card and handed over a dummy ATM card to him.
He also mentioned that the accused had withdrawan Rs 95,000 from his account between May 1 and May 3 and did shopping to the tune of Rs 19,000. The cops arrested all accused today. A case under Sections 379, 420, 406 and 120-B of the IPC has been registered.
