J&K Bank Academy, Iqra FC to clash for football title

The J&K Bank Academy XI and Iqra FC, Bandipora, won their respective semifinal matches of the second phase of the first Mufti Mohammad Syed Memorial Gold Cup League Football Tournament-2017.

A J&K Football Association (JKFA) statement issued here today said in the first semifinal, Iqra FC, Bandipora, defeated Fortview, Srinagar, 4-3 via tie-breaker. In a closely contested match, no team was able to score in the allotted time and the outcome had to be decided in a tie-breaker. Earlier, during the allotted time, the score remained 1-1.

The second semifinal between J&K Bank Academy and SK FC, Budgam, proved a one-sided affair. The winners defeated the Budgam team by a whopping margin of six goals to nil. Right from the start of the play, the J&K Bank Academy players dominated the match and kept the ball moving in the opposite half. —TNS
