The Army Service Corps (ASC) celebrated its 257th Corps Day in Udhampur district today.
Lt Gen D Anbu, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command, complimented all ranks of the Army Service Corps for their dedication and high degree of professionalism in performing their duty in difficult and inhospitable terrain in the Northern Command.
The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, Lt General Anbu, called upon all ranks of the Army Service Corps to work selflessly and rededicate themselves to upholding the ethos and spirit enshrined in the Corps motto.
The Army Service Corps is responsible for provisioning, procurement and distribution of supplies and petroleum products to the Army, Air Force, Navy and Central Armed Police Forces.
The Army Service Corps is also the single largest custodian of transport fleet and animals of the Army.
The Army Service Corpshas a record of outstanding contribution to all operations and has proved its mettle both in war and peace for which it has been awarded Maha Vir Chakra among other gallantry and distinguished awards.
The Army Service Corps has produced sportspersons of national and international repute.
The latest feather in its cap is the world record set by its motorcycle display team (Tornadoes) on November 19 for carrying 58 persons on one motorcycle.
