Ninety-year-old resident of Malangar village in Bangana on Thursday reportedly shot at Manohar Lal of nearby Narunh village, injuring him seriously.
Another resident Sunita Devi, who was standing nearby, fainted on hearing the gunshot.
Accused Bishan Das fled the spot but was later arrested by the police from his house.
Both were rushed to the Bangana Community Health Centre. Manohar Lal was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, with bullet injuries on his abdomen, chest and hands.
According to locals, Bishan Das owned a plot in the village which was used by villagers for cattle grazing. Bishan Das had been objecting to it.
DSP, Headquarters, Ashok Verma, said Bishan Das had been arrested under Section 307, IPC, for causing hurt with intention to kill.Further investigations are on.
