Ludhiana: After protesting against the imposition of Goods and Services Tax (GST) on cloth, wholesale traders were back to work on Tuesday at the famous wholesale AC market after a hiatus of 10 days.  The market, however, will remain open only for two days (Tuesday and Wednesday) and on Thursday, they will again hold a massive rally.  "We have opened shops for two days as there was a lot of pressure from customers. After two days, we will hold a massive rally and decide the further course of action," said a shopkeeper at the AC market. The cloth traders are protesting against the 5 per cent GST imposed on textile job work. "There never has been GST on cloth and now, with the introduction of GST on cloth, the government is putting the lives of poor craftsmen into a quandary. They will not be able to follow the complex system of GST," said Jasbir Khurana, another cloth merchant. TNS
