In order to motivate people to play active role in the election process and make them aware of exercising their franchise in a free and fair manner, the civil administration has started Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) vans in localities falling under the Amargarh Assembly segment of Fatehgarh Lok Sabha segment.
Assistant Returning Officer-cum-Executive Magistrate Bhupinder flagged of a van at sub-registrar officer here.
Besides organising workshops and nukkad meeting at various places, officials deployed on the van would also disseminate information highlighting the consequences of violation of model code of election conduct by supporters of candidates and prospective voters.
Appreciating the response received from office bearers and activists of various social organisations to the SVEEP programme, Ahmedgarh SDM Vikramjeet Singh Panthey said, “Our vote is our strength and right to vote is one of the pillars strengthening democracy. Constitution of India gives people the right to vote and everyone should participate in one of the biggest festivals of our democracy.”
Panthey said the Election Commission of India was taking the help of various organisations for voter awareness.
