Ludhiana, September 2

The two-day Open Ludhiana District Athletics Meet concluded at Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

The meet was organised by the District Athletics Association, Ludhiana.

As many as 750 players (boys and girls) took part in different track and field events. MLA Simranjit Singh Bains was the chief guest at the concluding function.

He distributed prizes among position holders.

The office-bearers of the organising association led by its chairman Dr Ashok Bhandari were among others present on the occasion.

The performance in this meet would be taken into consideration while finalising the district athletics squad for the forthcoming Punjab State Athletics Championships. The championship will be held for categories including sub-junior, junior boys and girls as well as senior men and women.

  • High jump (men): First Arshdeep Singh of Ludhiana; second Deepak Mishra of Government College, Ludhiana; and third Gurpreet Singh of GHG Khalsa College, Sudhar.
  • 200 metre race (boys U-20): First Vicky Kumar of GSS, Gobindgarh; second Rajesh Nayyar of Ludhiana; and third Gurpreet Chopra of Ludhiana. 
  • 200 metre race (men): First Navtej Singh of Government College, Ludhiana; second Manmeet Singh of PCTE, Baddowal; and third Raju Kumar of Phullanwal.
  • Long jump (boys U-18): First Ali Rana; second Jatinder Kumar and third Mohit.
  • 200 metre race (boys U-16): First Ramesh Kumar of Darshan Academy, second Rajnish of GGN Public School and third Sukhwinder Singh of Malwa Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana.
  • 200 metre race (boys U-18): First Sunil; second Parkash Singh; and third Avishek.
  • Long jump (men): First Gurdas Singh; second Vikas; and third Harmanpreet Singh.
  • Javelin throw (boys U-20): First Jaskaran Singh; second Rajan Kumar; and third Milandeep Singh.
  • High jump (boys U-20): First Sajan of Government College, Ludhiana; second Happy of SAVJC, Ludhiana; and third Prashant Diwedi of GMT Public School, Ludhiana.
  • Javelin throw (men): First Jaspreet Singh; second Sultan Singh; and third Tajeshwar Singh.
  • Long jump (boys U-14): First Harshit; second Harinder Mohan; and third Vaibhav.
  • Long jump (boys U-16): First Imroz Singh; second Sahilpreet Singh; and third Rishabh Tiwari.
  • Javelin throw (boys U-18): First Kartik of KVM; second Raman Kumar of BCM School, Basant Nagar; and third Bhupinder Pal Singh of Government Senior Secondary School, Sahnewal.
  • Long jump (girls U-16): First Pawanpreet Kaur; second Kamaljit Kaur; and third Anna.
  • 100 m hurdles (girls U-20): First Arshdeep Kaur of Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana; second Dilpreet Kaur of Khanna.
  • Long jump (girls U-20): First Jaskaran Kaur; second Harpreet Kaur and Vishni Sharma.
  • 100 metre hurdles (girls U-16): First Riya Riyal of Sargodha School; second Manpreet Kaur of BBPS, Dugri; and third Anmol of Government School, Sahnewal.
  • Discus throw (girls U-20): First Khushpreet Kaur; second Gurpreet Kaur; and third Ravneet Kaur.
