LUDHIANA: Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, organised an elocution competition for the students of Class VIII with the aim to promote effective public-speaking skills among them. As many as 80 students participated in the competition. Each participant was given two minutes to speak on various topics such as time management, internet–boon or bane, fashion era, value of ethics in modern-life, importance of health and patience is a virtue. The participants took the stage with aplomb. Their performance reflected understanding of the topics given to them. Principal Jyoti Sachdev Pujara said such competitions helped students in improving their communication skills and learn new ways of presenting their thoughts. She appreciated the efforts of the students and expressed that such competitions led to free flow of ideas and helped the young minds in sensitising them towards issues which need attention. 

Ludhiana District Open Karate C’ship

The third PTAKO Ludhiana District Open Karate Championship was organised at St Soldier Divine Public School, Golf Link, Hambran Road, under the aegis of Punjab Tiger Ashihara Karate Organisation. The event was played in different knock-out rounds and witnessed a participation of more than150 participants from various schools. The students of the St Soldier Divine Public School impressed all. Anil Chopra, chairman of the St Soldier Educational Society, congratulated the winning teams and said it was the vision of the school to develop the players and nurture their kinesthetic skills. The overall Trophy was won by St Soldier Divine Public School, followed by Tagore International Public School, Sanhewal, and third position went to Government Senior Secondary School, Dholewal. TNS
