Ludhiana, October 26
Ludhiana residents witnessed glimpses of Guru Nanak Dev’s life through a floating light and sound show organised here on the banks of the Sutluj near Ladhowal (district Ludhiana). The show is being organised to commemorate the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev.
More than 1,500 people from Ludhiana as well as other parts of the state attended the first of two shows held today.
Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu inaugurated the show today. He was also accompanied by District Public Relations Officer Prabhdeep Singh Nathowal, District Youth Congress president Rajiv Raja, besides several others.
While speaking to the mediapersons on the occasion, Ravneet Singh Bittu said the light and sound show beautifully projected Guru Nanak Dev’s philosophy in the form of his universal message to our society. Through the show the ethos of tolerance, peace, communal harmony, women empowerment and protection of natural resources were brought alive. Guru Nanak Dev’s efforts to promote social equality were also aptly showcased in letter and spirit. Such shows would be organised at various places in the state during the coming four months.
He said the Guru had shown the path of social unity and he urged the members of all the political parties to commemorate the Parkash Purb with unity. He said, “It was a matter of honour that we got the chance to celebrate the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev.” He said Captain Amarinder Singh, CM of Punjab, was personally monitoring the events being organised to commemorate the Parkash Purb.
Light and sound shows would be organised continuously for nine days at Sultanpur Lodhi from November 4 to November 12.
