SAD-BJP candidate from Ludhiana, Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, today said unlike the Congress, the previous government had ushered in peace and development in the state.

He said the alliance had ensured communal harmony in the state while the Congress had always played divisive politics.

“Even today, when the Congress is in power in the state, it is trying to rake up the issues, which can only divide people and not unite them,” he said.

Addressing a series of meetings at Dashmsh Nagar, Dugri (Ward No 48), Akalgarh Market, Chaura Bazar and Gaushal Road here, Grewal urged the people to vote for the SAD-BJP as it would be in the best interest of the state and the country.

The Akali leader said the Congress did not have a single achievement to its credit. He challenged sitting MP Ravneet Singh Bittu to debate as to what he or his government in the state had done for the constituency.

“When you go out to vote on May 19, please keep it in mind that you are going to choose the country’s Prime Minister and a government at the Centre, which will have country’s destiny in its hands,” Grewal said, while asking the Congress and other opposition parties to spell out as to who was to be their Prime Minister and what was their developmental agenda.

Taking on Congress candidate Bittu and PDA nominee Simarjeet Singh Bains, he alleged Bittu was not accessible even to his own party workers during the past five years while Bains had no lo locus standi to contest the parliamentary elections.

“Let Bains explain as what he is going to do in Parliament and where and with whom would he stand,” he asked.
