Ludhiana: To make the students aware of the impact of mathematics that has made on everyone’s lives, mathematics department of Khalsa College for Women, organised a mathematics power point presentation activity on various topics of day to day life.Students of Msc (mathematics) and other classes took part in the event.

The topis of presentations were life of Pi, the magic of triangles, mathematics as a career, maths and music, fractals, mathematics- the queen of sciences, how math saves our life, tessellations, mathematics and architecture, mathematics and its secret concepts, maths in nature, transformation in geometry and vedic mathematics.Students were made aware of many invisible applications of mathematics in our daily life in order to nurture certain qualities such as power of reasoning, creativity, abstract or spatial thinking and effective communication skills. Judges of the event were Him Kanta, Department of Chemistry and Poonam Pathak, Department of Economics. Yashika, student of BSc II stood first. Riya and Simran, Anoop and Tanya, Shivika stood second and third respectively. Consolation prize was bagged by Shivika. — TNS
