Various programmes were organised to mark the 71st Independence Day at several schools in the city.

Green Land Schools

Keeping the spirit of patriotism alive, staff and students of chain of Green Land Schools, Ludhiana, celebrated the 71st Independence Day with zeal and exuberance. The Chairman-cum-Director of Green Land Schools, Rajesh Rudhra, and other members of the managing committee hoisted the Tricolour. NCC cadets of 3 Punjab Battalion accorded a guard of honour and led the march past. Students presented a cultural show and also paid homage to the martyrs. The staff and students collectively took an oath to safeguard the nation under all circumstances. The school resounded with the slogans of ‘Bharat Mata ki jai.’

Bal Bharati Public School

To pay homage to the great leaders of India and their contributions to attain freedom, Bal Bharatians gathered to hoist the national flag on Tuesday. They saluted the flag and sang national anthem and national song. An inter-house dance competition was organised at Bal Bharati Public School for pre-primary, primary and secondary classes. The event began with a self-composed patriotic song, ‘Sone jaisi mati iski’.

Satya Bharti Senior Secondary School

Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and zeal at Satya Bharti Senior Secondary School, Sherpur Kalan. The function was inaugurated by unfurling the national flag. The function started with the welcome speech by the Principal followed by singing of patriotic group song by students of Classes VIII and IX. The community members signed the “I-Pledge” to ensure girl education and providing equal opportunities. Students from Classes V and VI performed classical dance on medley of patriotic songs. Boys of Classes VIII presented a mime on ‘Save Water’ followed by choreography on ‘Drug Abuse’ by Class IX students. The presentation highlighted the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters, leaders and volunteers who laid down their lives for the freedom of the country.

Orient International School & Sports Academy

Independence Day and Janamashtami were celebrated with enthusiasm at Orient International School & Sports Academy, Machhiwara Sahib. Students celebrated Independence Day with zeal and spirit. A cultural programme began with the lighting of the lamp. Students recited patriotic poems in the Kavya Manch. The poems described the valour of Rani Laxmi Bai and paid homage to the efforts of numerous freedom fighters. Tiny tots of KG presented a beautiful fancy dress programme to mark Janamashtami. Students danced to the tunes of ‘Govinda Ala Re’. Children came dressed in as Krishna and Radha.

Green Grove Public School

Doraha: Green Grove family celebrated the day with gaiety and patriotic fervour. On the occasion, the management, teachers and students gathered for the flag-hoisting ceremony. Principal S George hoisted the national flag. This was followed by a national integration peace march to Seh village and Khanna.

Doraha Public School

Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, fervor, zeal and zest by the pre-primary and primary wing of Doraha Public School. The celebrations were an assemblage of events ranging from patriotic songs and dances to the marching of young soldiers humming the tunes of the patriotic song ‘Nanha Munna Rahi’.

Sacred Heart Convent School

Sahnewal: Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School, Sahnewal, celebrated the 71st Independence Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. Director William Sahota was the chief guest of the day. The Director hoisted the national flag. A cultural programme was presented by students. Heart-touching glimpses of Independence struggle was shown through a documentary.

Paragon Int’l School

Mandi Ahmedgarh: Students of Paragon International School, Nangal Khurad, showcased their talent during the I-Day celebrations held on the school premises on Tuesday. Chairman SP Sofat hoisted the Tricolor and Principal Manjit Kaur Sidhu felicitated the outstanding performers.

MGMN Sr Sec School

A sub-division level Independence Day function was held at MGMN Senior Secondary School where the Tricolor was hoisted by Executive Magistrate Badal Deen. A cultural programme was presented by students of MGMN Senior Secondary School, Dyanand Adarsh Vidyalya Senior Secondary School, Maya Devi Goyal Senior Secondary School, Islamia High School, SVM Senior Secondary School, Green Valley Senior Secondary School, Government Senior Secondary School Kanganwal, GSSS Maholi Government Elementary School Akabarpur Chhanna and Dyanand Senior Secondary School.
