Punjab Roadways has started the Volvo Bus service for the New Delhi airport from the Ludhiana bus stand. The Volvo bus service for the New Delhi airport was started on July 27. There is a plan to start few more buses to the New Delhi airport in near future. Punjab Roadways Volvo bus begins its journey from the Ludhiana bus stand and dropped the passengers near the Terminal-3 of the New Delhi international airport. Punjab Roadways has also provided the facility of online booking of seats in these Volvo buses.

Earlier, there was no bus service from the Ludhiana bus stand to New Delhi airport. Though there are five Volvo buses being operated by the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) from different cities to the New Delhi airport, passengers had to board these buses from Sherpur Chowk because these buses did not go to the Ludhiana bus stand. The direct bus service from the Ludhiana bus stand to New Delhi airport is expected to provide huge relief to the people visiting the New Delhi airport from the district.

We have already started plying these buses,” said a Punjab Roadways official.

Punjab Roadways also plans to ply more buses to the New Delhi airport in future. The officials said they would see the response of the people before plying more buses to the New Delhi airport.

Box: “At present we are operating only one Volvo bus for the New Delhi airport. We are trying to inform people about this facility by different means. In future, we plan to ply more buses to the same destination, but we would first check the response of the people.” Gursewak Rajpal, General Manager, Punjab Roadways Ludhiana
