Ludhiana, September 1

A youth was found dead in a public toilet near Jalandhar Bypass on Saturday night. The incident came to light around 8:30 pm when a passerby noticed the youth lying in an unconscious state in the toilet.

A team from the Salem Tabri police reached the spot and started investigation.

The police dispelled rumours that the youth died of drug overdose. They said the youth was not a drug addict. He was doing some business in Ludhiana.

The deceased has been identified as Damandeep (24), a resident of Phagwara. The police called his relatives who reportedly live on Tibba Road.

A post-mortem examination of the body will be conducted on Sunday.

Suspecting no foul play, inquest proceedings under Section 174, CrPC, were initiated by the police. The investigating officer, ASI Baljeet Singh, said the youth seemed to have died after suffering a cardiac arrest.
