BKU factions join hands to fight for farmers’ cause

Two factions led by veteran leaders of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) have joined hands to fight for farmers’ issues.
Balbir Singh Rajewal of the BKU (Rajewal) and Harinder Singh Lakhowal of the BKU (Lakhowal) announced this today. Rajewal and Ajmer Singh Lakhowal were the founders of the BKU in the state in the 1980s. They had parted ways in 1988.
In a joint statement, both unions said they would support each other for waging a struggle for farmers.
The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the leaders from both outfits. They also flayed the Congress government for running away from complete loan waiver to the farmers.
Farmer ends life
Muktsar: Karamdeep Singh, a 34-year-old farmer of Kuraiwala village, reportedly under a debt of Rs 6 lakh, jumped into the Rajasthan Feeder canal in Gidderbaha subdivision on Thursday. His body is yet to be located. TNS
