Chandigarh, March 13

After Chandigarh Tribune highlighted the issue, the local Municipal Corporation has started the work to drain out stinking water from the roof of connecting passages in Sector 17.

Sources said Manoj Kumar Bansal, Chief Engineer of the MC, directed the engineering staff to immediately drain out the water this morning and start work on internal electricity wiring.

An MC official said slopes would be created on the roof in due course of time and provision for drainage would be made as per the design approved by the Chief Architect’s office. He said since Sector 17 fell in the heritage category, no changes could be made without permission from the Chief Architect’s office.
