At least eight people were killed and two others were injured in a road accident near Lagla village on Bhagalpur-Dumka National Highway in Jharkhand’s Dumka district in the wee hours of Monday.
The injured were taken to Dumka Sadar hospital. The incident occurred when the driver reportedly lost control and the Commander Jeep fell into a ditch near Lagla village under Jama police station. The vehicle is said to have been carrying newspapers from Bhagalpur town of Bihar to Dumka district of Jharkhand.
“Eight people died on the spot and two were critically injured. The injured are being treated at Dumka Sadar hospital. The deceased have yet to be identified,” said the station house officer of Jama police station.
Police said the bodies would be sent for post-mortem.
