B-Town relieved; FIR against singer Abhijeet, designer Farha

Along with Salman Khan and his family, Bollywood celebrities like Satish Kaushik and Mika Singh are relieved after the Bombay High Court on Friday suspended the superstar's five-year jail sentence in the 2002 hit-and-run case.

"It's not just a huge relief to the Khan family. It's a huge relief to the entire industry. He is gem of a person and if I may say so, all his good work that he has done is now coming in his favour. We have been praying for him and I'm happy for him. Whatever we are today, it's only because of him. He has given break to so many newcomers," Sajid Samji of Sajid-Farhad writer-director duo told IANS.

Daisy Shah, who got to play a full-fledged role in Bollywood film "Jai Ho" thanks to Salman, tweeted: "The kindness of a man has been judged by the god himself... Good deeds never go in vain. Thank you 1 n all for the prayers n love." "Mauja hi mauja" hitmaker Mika Singh, who has sung Salman's superhit song "Jumme ki raay" is "sooooooo happy".

"My best wishes to big brother @BeingSalmanKhan and I'm 200% sure God will help the man who always helps others. Keep praying. Agar dua dil se ho toh zarur puri hoti hai.... Thanx to all @BeingSalmanKhan fans for their prayers and good wishes. I'm sooooooo happy," tweeted Mika.

Actress Amrita Rao is also "happy for @BeingSalmanKhan & fmily".

Ameesha Patel, who shared screen space with Salman in "Yeh Hai Jalwa", believes "prayers of all have been answered".

Actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik also agrees with Ameesha.

"Joy and Happiness for @BeingSalmanKhan and family..all prayers were listened to ..jai mahasar maa," Satish tweeted.

Meanwhile, Muzaffarpur district court, Bihar, today ordered that an FIR be registered against Bollywood singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya and jewellery designer Farha Ali Khan for their remarks against people sleeping on roads following conviction of actor Salman Khan in a 2002 hit-and-run case.

Hearing a complaint case filed by advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Ram Chandra Prasad directed that an FIR be lodged against the two with Kazi Mohammadpur police station here under various offences including provocation with intent to cause riot and promoting enimity between different groups.

The police station was chosen as the complainant had given the place of occurance as Chhattapur where he said he purchased newspapers and read about the disparaging remarks made by the two which prompted him to approach the court.

The court instructed that an FIR be filed under IPC sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).

The complainant had claimed that he had been hurt by the "derogatory" remarks of the singer which he saw on TV channels and read in newspapers.

In a series of tweets, Abhijeet had on May 6 said "Come out fraternity, support @BeingSalmanKhan boldly not hypocriticly Roads footpath r not meant 4 sleeping, not driver's or alcohol's fault (sic)."

"Roads are meant for cars and dogs not for people sleeping on them."        

Jewellery designer and Salman's friend Farah Ali Khan had also sought to blame the homeless for the star's plight with comments like footpaths are not for sleeping. PTI/IANS
