Woman constable killed over dowry in UP

MUZAFFARNAGAR (UP): A woman constable was allegedly beaten to death by her husband and in-laws over dowry in Khatauli town here, police said today.

A woman constable was allegedly beaten to death by her husband and in-laws over dowry in Khatauli town here, police said today.

As per a complaint by Ompal Singh, Renu's father, his daughter was beaten to death by her husband and her in-laws over alleged dowry in Meerut yesterday, Station House Officer of Khatauli police station, Sunil Kumar said.

She got married to Kapil Kumar, a computer engineer, in 2014, the SHO said.

Renu, posted at Khatauli police station, was admitted to Anand Hospital in Meerut by her in-laws where she died yesterday, he said.

Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against Kapil, his father Virendra, mother Kusum and brother Vikrant, he said.

The body has been sent for post-mortem, the SHO said, adding that the matter is being investigated. —PTI
