NBCC implements RPL program across country

Under Skill India Mission of Government of India, NBCC has implemented the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Programme throughout the country. Over 2,000 workers have been assessed and certified by the Construction Skill Development Council of India.

Over 2,000 workers have been assessed and certified by the Construction Skill Development Council of India. Workers in 39 job roles were assessed through written test and practical demonstration by NBCC engineers in co-ordination with CII.

Punjab & Sind Bank posts loss of Rs 469 crore in Q2

Punjab & Sind Bank has declared net loss of Rs 469 crore in Q2 ended September 30 on account of higher provisioning. The loss for the Q1 ended June was Rs 30 crore. Retail advances and priority sector lending also increased from Rs 15,425 crore to Rs 16,137 crore in Q2 on YOY basis. The business of the bank stood at Rs 1,61,558 crore as on September 30.

Dr Nymphea Pandit takes charge as president of ISP

Dr Nymphea Pandit, professor and head, Department of Periodontics and Implantology, DAV(C) Dental College, Yamunanagar, has taken over as 5th woman president of the Indian Society of Periodontology (ISP). She took over the charge at the association's 44th national conference held in Bengaluru recently. 

Jammu Hospital, Jalandhar, holds CME on bariatric surgery 

Dr GS Jammu, director, Jammu Hospital, Jalandhar, and his team organised a one-day CME on bariatric and metabolic surgery. The CME was endorsed by the Indian Medical Association, Jalandhar. Dr Nasser Sakran from Tel Aviv, Israel, was the guest speaker. He is currently chairman of Israeli Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery. 

Jaypee varsity holds conference on ‘Image Information Processing’

Jaypee University of Information Technology, Solan, recently hosted the 5th international conference on 'Image Information Processing'.  The three-day conference, organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology, was inaugurated by vice- chancellor Prof (Dr) Vinod Kumar. Frequent urination may be due to prostate disease, says expert 

Dr Atul Mittal, consultant urologist, Altis Hospital, Jalandhar, has said prostatic diseases are common among aging men and can cause significant morbidity. He said patients are largely unaware of this condition despite high prevalence rates as they consider it a normal part of aging, which can be rectified through a targeted patient awareness campaign. He also said frequent urination may be linked to prostate disease.

Morepen Laboratories Ltd has reported net sales revenue of Rs 383.30 crore in the half year ended September 30, registering a growth of 24.2% as compared to sales revenue of Rs 308.56 crore in the corresponding first half of the previous fiscal. Total revenue (standalone) in the first half stood at Rs 392.44 crore, registering a jump of 25.4%.

He was speaking during the inaugural session of the two-day global law conference at Chandigarh University, Gharuan, recently. He applauded the efforts of university for making Environment Laws as compulsory subject for every student studying in any stream from January 2020.
