NCC camps connect people, say cadets

Young cadets taking part in the national integration camp — Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat — feel that such camps play an instrumental role in connecting people of different states and cities besides providing adequate exposure to them.

The camp comprises 600 NCC cadets with several from Karnataka, Goa and other states. The camp is being organised by 1 Punjab Battalion at Madhav Vidya Niketan Senior Secondary School. “The camp teaches us a lot about our nation and its people. This is a platform to know the culture of different states from where cadets are. We were also taken to Wagah border,” said Cadet Neelam from Hissar, Haryana, who also attended the camp.

A cultural programme was also held where cadets from across the nation presented cultural performances on Sunday. Lopoke brothers also performed at the event.

Besides, multiple activities are held as part of the camp, such as seminars on different topics like disaster management, traffic among others, rangoli, mehandi, etc. The physical aspect of the cadet is also taken care of.

Some of the students are also learning language by taking notes from others.

Isha Pandey, a young cadet from Bengaluru, Karnataka, on her maiden visit to the holy city is charmed by the city’s food and its people. She said, “This camp reflects national integration in true sense. People here are of jolly nature and the food, too, is amazing. We are keen on presenting, telling others about our culture.”

Sukhpal Singh, associate NCC officer, said, “The aim is to acquaint the cadets with the history of the place and exchange of culture. The camp will conclude on June 15.”

Brig RK Mour, Group Commander, Amritsar Group, will visit camp on Monday. A session on art of living will also be held.”
