A number of Nihang dals have descended in the holy town along with their horses, elephants and camels ahead of “mohalla” to be organised on Wednesday to conclude the 550th Gurpurb celebrations.
As the Nihang dals, including Baba Budha Dal, Baba Bidhi Chand Dal, Tarna Dal and Guru Nanak Dal Marian Wale, have set up langars, they all have also arranged for stables for their 40-50 animals on the back of the tent. Horse races and shows, “nezabazi” and use of spears while riding on multiple horses will be on display during the event.
The Nihang dals are, however, fumed that they have yet not been provided any ground in the town where they would be holding the event two days later.
“It has been a tradition to hold mohalla here after Guru Nanak Gurpurb every year. The Baba Budha Dal leads the event. Every year, we start it from their office near Gurdwara Hatt Sahib with main programmes held near Gurdwara Sant Ghat. But owing to some works going on near Gurdwara Sant Ghat, we have been told that we will be given a new venue but it is yet to be decided,” said Baba Wariam Singh of Guru Nanak Dal.
