By next week, city rly station to go Wi-Fi

The Chandigarh railway station will have the Wi-Fi facility for passengers by next week. Work on providing the facility is under way at the station. The work was allotted to a company by the railway authorities.

An official said to use the Wi-Fi facility, a passenger would have to message his or her PNR number to the railway number displayed at the station and a one-time password for 30 minutes would be issued to the passenger by the authorities.

Earlier, the deadline for the completion of the work was June 30, but later it was extended to July 15. Sources said a trail run would be conducted for a day by the company before starting the facility for passengers.

Ambala Divisional Railway Manager Dinesh Kumar said by next week, the work would be completed and the facility made available to the passengers.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu had announced in the Railway Budget for 2016-17 that 100 stations, including the Chandigarh railway station, would have the Wi-Fi facility.
