Samana resident duped of Rs 65.65 lakh

The police booked a man and his wife on Wednesday for allegedly duping a Samana resident of Rs 65.65 lakh on the pretext of settling him in the USA. 

Naveen Bansal, was allegedly duped of 65.65 lakh by Luv Kumar and his wife Kanchan Rani, residents of the Samana Fish Market, who lured him and his family by promising to get them settled in the USA. 

A case under Section 420, IPC, and Section 13, Prevention of Human Trafficking Act 2014, has been registered against the accused. 

The victim, Naveen Bansal, alleged that Luv took Rs 65.65 lakh from him and promised to send his family to the United States of America (USA).  “The accused neither sent us to the US nor returned my money,” the victim said. 

In fact, the accused couple was known to the victim’s family. First, Luv sent the victim and his 17-year-old son on a Europe tour in December 2016 to win their confidence. “Luv termed our Europe tour as pre-requirement of going to the USA,” the victim added. 

“After failing to me any my family to the USA, the accused stopped responding to our calls. However, in April 2017, the accused returned a cheque of Rs 3 lakh after we put pressure on him,” said Bansal. 

“The remaining amount has not been returned by Luv despite our best efforts for the past one year,” he added.
