Ludhiana, November 28
The Health Department has chargesheeted District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Abnash Kumar for accepting Diwali gifts last year.
The DHO has been given 21 days' time to submit his reply.
The official was caught accepting gifts during a sting operation and an inquiry was marked into the case.
On the issue, the DHO said, “It is last year’s incident. I had placed an order and a sweetmeat shop owner had come to deliver it."
He said three inquiries had already been conducted by the department. "I had got a clean chit, but the matter is not closed yet. I will file my reply within 21 days," he said.
The Director, Health and Family Welfare, had submitted a report after probing the case.
Civil Surgeon Dr Subhash Batta said he had received the report.
