A day after the BSF seized 2.13 kg of heroin from Old Mohammadi Wala border outpost in the Ferozepur sector, 15 kg of contraband was recovered in two separate incidents in the state.
In the first incident, the Amritsar rural police have confiscated 12 kg of heroin and arrested two persons in this connection. They were identified as Gurpal Singh and Gupreet Singh, both residents of Rorawala Kalan village located near the Indo-Pak border.
SSP Vikram Jeet Duggal confirmed the seizure and said the operation was still on. The seizure was by made by the CIA staff led by Inspector Vikrant. The accused were intercepted by the police team during a naka following a tip-off. “They were apparently going to deliver the consignment to their accomplices when they were intercepted,” the SSP said, adding that the contraband was seemingly smuggled from across the border. Further investigations were underway in this regard, he added.
In another incident, the BSF seized 3 kg of heroin near the Indo-Pak border under the Amritsar sector.
A BSF official said six packets were recovered from Bharopal and Roranwala border outposts. No arrest has been made so far, he added.
He said the BSF troops noticed some suspicious movement near the security fence during the early hours and challenged the suspects to stop, but they didn’t pay any heed. The BSF troops opened fire, the smugglers managed to escape taking advantage of darkness. During a search, the BSF recovered the contraband from the site.
