AMRITSAR: As part of the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak, the SGPC held an inter-faith conclave at Gurdwara Manji Sahib in the Golden Temple complex here today.

As part of the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak, the SGPC held an inter-faith conclave at Gurdwara Manji Sahib in the Golden Temple complex here today.

Golden Temple head priest Giani Jagtar Singh, Akal Takht’s officiating Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal, secretary Dr Roop Singh, representatives of Christian, Buddhism, Jain, Islam, Brahm Kumari, Ashoka Dharma and Ahmadiyya community took part in it.

Most participants stressed on the philosophy of Guru Nanak that spreads the message of universal brotherhood and harmony.

US-based Sikh Dharma International also presented to the SGPC a bejewelled 400-page ‘Pothi’ (holy book). Titled as “Japji Sahib – the Light of Guru Nanak for the World”. The Pothi contains Japji Sahib text translated into 19 different world languages from Gurmukhi. It would be placed at Central Sikh Museum. Addressing the gathering, Giani Harpreet Singh said it was necessary to adopt Guru Nanak's teachings to fight present day challenges. — TNS
